GENERAL APPEARANCE.
As a saluki, Madonna follows the typical tall and lanky stature - thin, agile, and graceful. Though long legs lead to a lengthy and narrow barrel, Mad should not be mistaken for fragile, as she can hold her own quite competently in any confrontation. This lithe female stands 26 inches at her withers - tall for a bitch of her breed. Her weight most often centers itself around 53 pounds, perhaps a tad on the low end of the spectrum.
Sleek, feathered fur covers her body. Smooth and tight around her barrel, and wispy feathers draped at the back of her legs, as well as the underside of her lightly curved tail. The floppy ears are lost in a long display of fur, which blows easily into her face. The color gradients from a light tan, to a charcoal, and ends with a twinge of red at the bottom strands of fur on her lower ear.
The majority of Josephine's pelt is a dull, charcoal black, though her points contrast this darkness with a very light sand color. Her face is masked by this ghostly tan, only broken by the thin line of black trailing down the center of her muzzle giving way to the blackness of her keen nose. The sand marks her belly and all four paws and inner legs: on the front ending on her chest where her forelegs attach to her barrel, and on the back dwindling on the feathered underside of her graceful tail. It appears almost as though she had laid down in a bed of sand and never been washed clean of its imprint.
Her regal face is accented by short white whiskers and chestnut brown eyes - soft and gentle, giving an appearance of calm and wisdom. Oh, how deceitful they are. Jo is to be judged on her body language and vocals rather than the depths of her eyes.
PERSONALITY.
Mad has quite the complex, you see: she follows no path, consistently finding ways to dodge boring predictability. Of course she has many traits which remain tried and true - for example, she has quite the opinion of herself, though oddly skewed. Perhaps the most contradictory characteristic she holds, Madonna is egotistical, yet submissive, depending on gender. In comparison to most females she thinks herself closer to godliness than they. Alternatively, should she find herself interacting with a male, she's quick to bow before his superior being and worship the very ground he walks upon.
Most wouldn't call this peculiar creature a calm, or even a friendly one. She does, however, have some sense of kindness, but only if one can overlook her extremely overwhelming ego, obnoxious demeanor towards others, and cynical sarcasm. She doesn't put much thought into her actions - at least, not unless you happen to be an angel sent from the male gender - and often finds herself slipping into a never-ending abyss of noise. Typically there is no more meaning behind her voice than just that: mere noise. Jo is easily brushed off and ignored by those around her, but she doesn't pay much mind - she thinks herself too good for most anyhow.
Males possess an unforgiving power over Mad, as she will do most anything she's asked if it comes from the maw of a brute. It is perhaps this twisted worship system which leads her to no attraction of the male gender. She is simply too inferior to be worthy of mating with such a divine dog - therefore settling for the foreplay of females, where she can find it. Unfortunately, however, if a male so much as requests her service, she is gladly at their disposure, despite being repulsed at the plain thought of it.
Although Jo has a strong disposition, she never fails to obey the loyalty of her friends and pack. She is a good friend to the bone, though not many wish to befriend her due to the light in which she is presented. Don't let this be deceiving; Madonna is stone hard to the core, and would tear any intruder to shreds given the opportunity. With only a little prodding, she could very nearly bite off a head in anger. It's advised to keep lowly opinions of her quiet - she doesn't quite take to them very well.
HISTORY.
A black and fawn Saluki was born. How? Let’s not get into that, kids. The female pup had siblings, yes. A few males and a few females: she didn’t know, she couldn’t count. In fact she couldn’t see or hear either. Anyway, by the age of six months she lived with her mother and father, three brothers, and one sister. She was a fairly happy-go-lucky gal, and she was called Josephine. Brothers Antoine and Renaldo thought they were top dog, and they’d rough house with each other. The two were inseparable, but they never let poor Lancelot join in theirreindeercanine games. Elizabelle and Josephine became pretty close, and Josephine took quite the liking to little Lancelot even if her sister seemed indifferent.
Now there’s a good base. Moving on, then. As time went on it became apparent that the mother, whose name is unimportant and need not be mentioned, had a large distaste for the runt as well. She’d hardly feed Lancelot, and easily angered when Josephine rushed to his defense. Because Josephine always put up a strong fight with her mother, she also began to experience the food shortage issue. Being close with Elizabelle, Josephine turned to her sister for aid and Elizabelle said she’s do whatever she could to help alleviate the situation. Well, alleviate, I suppose she did. Help, she did nothing of the sort.
One day when Josephine woke up, she noticed that Antione, Renaldo, Lancelot, Elizabelle, and her mother were all missing. Frantically, Josephine went looking for them, searching all over where they had ever known. She stumbled upon her mother standing over Lancelot’s dead body, Elizabelle standing beside congratulating her mother. Josephine was frozen and unnoticed. As she stared in awe her brothers burst out into the scene yelling, “What have you done, mother? You killed him? He’s family!”
Josephine’s life changed from that moment on. She went back to her father, who sought out his two living sons and showed his former mate that he was displeased. Josephine grew up under the loving paw of her father. Her brothers left when they were about a year old, but she stayed with her father until one day he was gone. Once on her own, Josephine changed her name to Madonna. She had developed a feeling of superiority towards females and a firm sense of worship towards all males. She didn’t despise her own gender, she simply thought of herself as better. She must be better. She was raised by a male. He was her perfection. She was his servant.
