This was it. The grand pinnacle of his adventure. The apex of his little escapade, the zenith of his mammoth exploration. His journey had been a dangerous one to be sure, filled with treacherous encounters and traitorous companions, but he'd championed them all. Every obstacle he'd come across, every hurdle he'd faced - all of them, surmounted. This campaign had been a mountain of menace and he'd always been teetering oh so close over the edge, constantly faced with the threat of falling into the pits of peril, but he'd pressed on. And now here he stood, basking in the light at the end of the tunnel. He was almost out. He had done it. He had climbed the whole mountain, and here he stood at the peak, looking out and basking in his prize.
He had successfully escaped nap time.
Oh yes, he thought he was a goner back in the hallway when the sound of padded feet reached his floppy little ears, but he had scrambled quickly into a door that had been agape, hiding beneath a mattress that had been thrown halfway off the bed and onto the ground. The canine patrolling the halls had passed by, leaving him to continue on unmolested. And of course, there was that lizard he'd run into. He'd just been trying to pick the thing up and bring it with him - surely it'd be much happier outside, right? It was so dark and dank in the hallway. He would do the little thing a favor and bring him outside to skitter around in the sun! But no. The lizard had hissed at him and run off - leaving Ronin with a mouthful of tail. Literally. Like, it literally detached its tail and left it hanging in his mouth.
He was still holding onto the tail, actually. It was pretty cool and he planned on keeping it. But still, what a jerk!
But all that was over now, done and past. Here he was, at the entrance of Thorne General Hospital. The sun was shining and the breeze felt warm and welcoming as it blew through the doorway - why would he want to nap through a day like this? It was practically calling his name! 'Come outside and play, Ronin! Come on, it'll be so fun! There's so much to do out here! And there's no adults around, so you can do whatever you want! Come on, Ronin!' Yeah! Just like that!
Ronin's curled little tail wagged furiously and the pup let out an ecstatic bark around the lizard's tail he held in his mouth, which turned into happy yapping. He jumped in the air with the boundless energy only a puppy could claim and bolted outside, the warmth of the sun hitting his fur. The feeling of cold linoleum changed to lukewarm concrete and finally soft grass as he bounded out into the yard. The puppy dove into the sea of green, laughing triumphantly, and rolled playfully in the grass, lizard's tail still clutched in his mouth. He was basking in his victory, and oh, was it sweet! If he hadn't been so busy congratulating himself, maybe he would have noticed the approach of another...

The ivory cream pup was having a hard time sleeping for their nap, there was a decent group of puppies but his litter was the youngest. Thus meanings they were to be closely watched they hardly had a chance for mischief as that was the talent of every pup. Huffing and rolling over on his back trying to get comfy on the cold linoleum, his big mahogany orbs caught movement as his large floppy ears flapped on the ground. Narrowing his eyes he realizes his littermate was attempting to sneaking out again, Ronin, always accountable for the first to test the limits.
Massive puppy paws flopped on the hard cold ground as Jiro plopped to his side, curiously watching if his brother would make the great escape. As soon as Ronin was out of sight, the cream pelted pup's head shot up quickly, swiveling his dial to scan the whole room, everyone so far was still passed out, even the pup-sitter.
Devious smirked curled his ebony lips as he slowly lifted up onto his oversized feet, carefully and quietly he crept his way towards the same exit his kin had just escaped out of. It seemed like eternity as he made it to the door the was cracked open and only hanging off of one bolt that slanted it. A woosh of air rushed passed his gaped lips as he sighed in relief, first obstacle conquered. Hurray!
Just a few meters down the hallway the echoes of footfalls closing in on him. Jiro panic and scrambled his short stubby legs as fast as he could to the closest possible nook to hide in. Crumbly Biskets! Where to hide!? He yelped in his mind as he searched and circled around for something to hide behind. The echoes paw steps were getting louder. The he finally found a fallen ceiling rectangle and bolted for it. But he tripped and flipped over with tangled legs as he slid across the linoleum and into the ceiling panel. It crumbled in two over him, luckily it was just enough to hide him as the patrolling canine entered the area. Jiro held still, holding his breath till his lungs and chest ached till the coast was clear. Gasping for air he stumbled out of the rubble, he was going to get Ronin for this! Him and his dang curiosity!
Finally regaining control of himself, Jiro took off running the rest of the way out of the maze of a hospital. Only stopping here and there once in awhile at any possible sound that meant his capture, he prayed the sitter hadn't realized they were gone yet. Finally, FINALLY! Fresh clean atmosphere entered his black nostrils, freedom atlas!
Ah Ha! There was the orange brother! A small growl rumbled in his little chest as Jiro took off barreling after the oblivious Ronin. He'd get him this time! Pounding his flopping paws as fast as he could without fumbling over them, he bared in on his littermate. As soon as he was in reach he made a great leap becoming and ivory blur as he came down on Ronin. Tackling into his side as Jiro clamped his tiny puppy teeth into his brother's fluffy neck trying to pull him down to the ground.

The warm, fresh air was different than the musty air of the hospital. Sure, it wasn't that bad when you got used to living in it, and it wasn't uncommon for a breeze to come in through the collapsed walls or the shattered windows, but it was never quite as nice as just laying out in the sun. Ronin felt himself sigh in contentment and relaxed his movements for a bit, closing his eyes and soaking up the sun's rays, letting them warm his dense fur. Now, what would he do with his newfound freedom?
Would he entertain himself on the hospital grounds? Maybe he'd find some interesting creatures in the growing grass - hopefully ones that were much more open to playing than the lizard. Or did he want to try and venture even further? Did he dare to push the limits and go where no puppy had ever gone before? Would he really try to go - gasp! - beyond the yard?!
The thought was exhilarating! Ronin felt a shiver of excitement course through his body, and he let out a subconcious, eager growl. But at the same time, he wasn't quite sure. He would probably get scolded as it was for escaping the pupsitter and going out into the yard without supervision. Not that he cared too much about getting in trouble, but it was still a pain to have to sit and listen to a lecture. Did he really want to tack on punishment for going even farther?
Ronin's eyes opened and wandered across the boundaries of the hospital yard, looking out beyond the parking lot at what lay before him. The pup fell back on his haunches, weighing his options. Did he really want to go? Or would he stay? It was as he was pondering this, chewing thoughtfully on his lizard's tail, that he felt a force come barreling into his side.
The red puppy's eyes widened and he let out a surprised yelp as the mysterious creature caught him off guard, nearly knocking him off balance with the charge. For a brief moment before he could identify the beast, Ronin felt a twinge of fear and shock. What sort of ill-tempered animal had he upset now?! But as he felt a familiar set of puppy teeth clamp into his scruff and felt the usual weight of his attacker trying to pull him to the ground, Ronin felt a bark of laughter escape his lips. Now that he was paying attention, the scent was a dead give away.
"Darn it, Jiro!" he attempted to growl his words at his brother in order to sound menacing, but ended up laughing even more as he felt his brother tugging him down. "You sc- surprised me!" Whew, almost said he was scared there! Even if he was a little bit, he couldn't let his brother know that, could he? The force of his brother's pull had him stumble slightly, almost bring him down on his side before he quickly righted himself.
Oh no you don't! Planting his feet stubbornly in the soft soil, Ronin leaned his weight away from his brother's grip before thrashing his upper body about to try and get him off. "Sneak attack or not, I won't let you win!" the pup growled, determined to win this surprise wrestling match. How had Jiro even gotten out here? Had he followed him all the way out here without him noticing? Well, whatever! At least he had someone to play with now!
When Ronin couldn't tell if his shaking was effective, he instead turned his head to the side and made a go at capturing one of his brother's ears to tug on.

Everything seemed to be glowing, and it was delicious to her chocolate brown eyes. Something that particularly caught the young female's eye was a bright lightening bug. It seemed so odd and out of place in the brightly lit meadow. Yet, the tiny bug flew around her ears, buzzing, flashing across her eyes every few seconds. The little bug seemed to be talking to her, which confused Jedi, because she had never had a bug talk to her before. She didn't even think bugs could speak the canine language, yet here this little bug was, speaking in the softest voice, telling her something about... Leaving? That couldn't be right, but it was. The lightning bug was telling her all about how 'they' were leaving, and eventually, it made sense.
The white canine's eyes flew open and she looked around frantically, searching for the brothers that should have been nearby. But they were gone, the both of them. For a second, a wave of panic overcame her. Did her pack kick the three month old males, who were now old enough to eat meat, out of the pack. She thought the pack would be gracious enough to at least let the pups last until they were two years of age, maybe even just one year. But as the seconds passed, and as she grew calmer, that fear turned into aggravation. The pack hadn't kicked the dumb furballs out, they had sneaked off without waking Jedi up, she was sure of it. Rolling her eyes, Jedi looked around, her eyes quickly landing on the pup sitter that was in a deep slumber. Yep, they've gone off on an adventure without me, she thought to herself.
Pulling herself up, she was sure to be quiet enough as to not wake any of the other pups or the pup sitter, though by how deeply in sleep the older female was, Jedi knew that it would be close to impossible to accomplish that task. It was easy getting out of the nursery, being as the door was already cracked from her brothers' escapes. Jedi was careful to keep her paws light, but it was difficult when she was trying to track her brother's scents and not get caught by a patrolling dog. It was easy for the pup to follow the trail, though. She knew Jiro and Ronin's scents like the back of her paw, and the trail was twice as strong.
Eventually, after dodging a few close calls with patrolling canines, she made it to her destination: outside. At first, she was a little cautious. What if her brothers hadn't really come out her at all? What if they had been abducted by some older dog, and that older dog was going to come snatch her form her home as well now? But of course she knew this was silly when she saw the two brothers playing in the grass only a few meters from where she was. Running over, her tail beginning to wag, Jedi headbutted the closet one to her, which just so happened to be Jiro. Looking up at the two bigger pups, she squeaked, "You guys left me in the nursery! Y'all could have woken me up to let me know you were going on an adventure." Jedi tried to sound accusing in her words, but she ended up giggling at the end.

The cream puppy laughed through clenched teeth and fur, Jiro had heard the almost misspoken 'scared' Ronin about said. He kept plowing his weight into his brother and tugging at his scruff at the same time. Till sadly Ronin got his foot, darn stout brother always had good coordination! In which the pull away from Jiro made him stumble and almost fall, saving himself her reared up with both front paws to the sky, "Your lunch brother! Grr"
Attempting to grapple his oversized paws over Ronin's neck and face as he bit and nawed at the back of his head and neck. Trying to dodge and pull his floppy ears out of reach. Though this assault didn't last long as another tiny force rammed right into Jiro's side, a surprised yelp escaped his lungs as he toppled over onto his back. He didn't give up on Ronin though, he started nipping at his orange and white paws and ankles.
Jiro didn't freeze till he heard it was his sister that spoke, he'd almost thought it'd been the pup-sitter knocking him over that he ignored. "Oh Jedi! You ruined it I about had him! " Jiro half whined half laughed as he sat up and began licking his ivory sister's chin and muzzle. "Sorry you know how I hate putting you in danger. You should've stayed. I was trying to drag his butt back." Apologizing to Jedi, though the last bit was a half lie. He was actually curious to go on an adventure with Ronin, to keep an eye on him of course. Can't let his brother get in trouble could he?
