AKITA
FEMALE
ONE YEAR
"JAPANESE" AKITA INU
N/A - LONER
Akita has beautiful soft, fluffy tan and white fur, typical of a Japanese-style Akita such as herself. With a white muzzle speckled with tangerine-like colors, white chest, underbelly, legs and on the bottom of her tail, she has a base color of a peach-orange. Three stripes of white appear on her otherwise tan ears to give her a unique feature. Her eyes are dark brown, tongue bright pink. She's a decent size for only a yearling; built well and muscled she stands at twenty inches and weighs ninety-three pounds. She's a good fighter because of her size, and it usually is one of her first resolves to a situation. Her curly tail is usually twisted into a donut shape, but it unravels a little when she gives a rare wag. Her paws are large, giving away just how big she'll be in about two years when she's fully grown, likely reaching the largest level of standard. Her jaws are long and powerful, with dangerous white teeth that she isn't afraid to stain red if push comes to shove, same going for her white claws. Her fur is thick, and she sheds an awful lot, sometimes making even herself sneeze. Her head is large, and just as thick as you'd assume for a head-strong yearling.
To be honest, Akita has quite a foul temper, even after you've gotten to know her. She has the attitude of a sixteen-year-old and is a natural at cruel remarks and her insults can cut deep. She'll say something hurtful without even thinking about it, and though later if she likes you she might apologize, first and foremost she is snappy, irritated, and untrusting. She gives off a bad first impression, but deep down she has a soft spot for her family and friends. Anyone outside of family and friends, however, has stepped on a firecracker- not to say those close to her are completely safe either. She's a tad nervous in new situations, and thus rarely ever goes near roads or structures, she prefers the mountainous areas and living in a dark, hidden away den like a snake in winter looking for a warm, close-cornered place to snuggle up. If you manage to get past her outer shell, you'll find a good-hearted dog with a bad history. She is extremely close to family, but refuses to admit it, and thus will lash out and try to act like she cares for no one, maybe even to fool herself to prevent herself from getting hurt. She is terrible with pups, doesn't know how to be quiet to keep their sensetive ears from being hurt, and will shout at them if they start to cry. Some would consider Akita a turtle, with her hard outer shell, but she's truly a bundle of exposed nerves. Every touch is to a sore spot that gets a spark reaction. Her mocha eyes are hard to read, unless they're displaying her anger. Her anger perhaps also stems from watching her family be killed by a small family pack when she was very young. Self-blame came into the picture since she was the sole survivor, and it's speculated she hates life in general now, thus cares little for how she lives it. She doesn't care about reprocussions.
Akita was named after her breed by herself. Her mother wanted to give her a different name, and did, but the pup started calling herself Akita and convinced her family that consisted of herself, her sister and parents to call her Akita over time. Her parents died tragically in a find with a small family pack that Akita's family crossed pathes with, and she lost her sister as well in the bloody fight. The pup hid in a small crevice in some rocks, watching her family lose the fight and be killed by the ruthless parents and their four teenagers. They had out-numbered her mother and father and wanted the small territory that had a good amount of shade for themselves, and so they took it. After sneaking away, Akita ran for what seemed like days and found herself in an entirely new part of Colorado. Lost, alone, and without any family to continue to teach the nine month old pup how to survive on her own, she learned to observe and scavange, getting by however possible. She harbors the scars of her failures, but doesn't mind them being seen. She's still alive, so even though they show her mistakes, she did get past them. Her traumatic past is likely what leads to Akita's spit-fire behavior that is likely used to keep people at bay so she doesn't get close to anyone, too afraid to lose someone again. She traveled quite a ways to reach these lands, caring for herself despite how tough it was. It was hard of course, but she was a tough pup, and knew how to follow others in order to scavange off their hard-earned meals until she had hunting for herself down to a science. Only just starting to settle in here, Akita is still walking on egg shells and is constantly alert.
