» SKIN CONCERNS ( problem solving ) » As of late, many people have made it clear that this skin is a wee bit dark for them. SO, seeing as I need to solve alla these prollems and such, I need to come up with some way to help erryone get through this darkness of le skin. Changing it would be a huge hassle, but I would be willing to make adjustments for those of you that are, indeed, suffering. Here is the link of a shit-quality screenshot I took, of the skin on my moniterthing. However, I just realized that it will probably look dark regardless to those of you that are having problems, because our settings may jus be different. Awkward. Anyways, if it does look different, let me know! To me, the site is very bright and very readable. I'm trying to find out if it has anything to do with the browser, but now it just seems as though my computer's colors are abnormally light. ANYWAYS. I'd love thoughts from anyone, ily all.<3

Everything's readable to me, but like I said, maybe if we changed the skin for each season or something it would solve issues of things being too dark for some people's comps. :\ I've had a lot of skin making experience, and it's always hard to please everyone when it comes to how light or how dark things are. Dx like, on RLTW i have to make a skin every month to fit the theme of the season.

Grey, your screenshot of the board corresponds with what I am seeing on my laptop. Granted, the orange does contrast against the dark background but the neat yet slightly miniscule font makes reading somewhat harder. Any darker than the current setting and I would have been put off from joining the site as a guest.
Nonetheless, everything is still readable but it takes more effort. I would like to recommend a slightly brighter skin. I too agree with Befera about having seasonal skins, or different skins for different events as it'd be very exciting and interesting (:
With all this being said, well done on creating such a fantabulous site <3 I am loving every bit of it, including the community and the whole layout.

The forum in itself is absolutely beautiful, I'll mention that first and foremost. However, there are a few visibility issues.
As I've already mentioned to you in the chat box, the major issue is that the site is stretched to where I cannot see the left side of the boards along with the right. If I want to see either side, I have to scroll over, which is a bit annoying. With the side-table static as it is, it's hard to navigate the boards without constantly scrolling from side to side. Is there a way to make this collapsible, alike to the Season Information on the right? I imagine it would solve my issue perfectly, if you're willing to adapt your site in such a way. Either that or perhaps resize the forum itself to be less wide? :3
I've only had issues with text against background with the character biographies, especially the header information involving age, breed, gender, pack, etc (this is impossible for me to read, unfortunately). The board descriptions are fairly difficult to read, but with a slight strain its' distinguishable. Then again, right now I'm sitting in the dark. If I were to turn the lights on, nothing would be visible. I've tried turning the brightness up with no success. Maybe it's the dinosaur computer I'm using, but things are just hard to see. Either way I'm still wiling to make an effort to be a part of this forum. It's amazing.

The only problem I have is the left sidebar is too long and doesn't fit in my screen unless I zoom out a lot, but then I can't read anything.

I cannot please everyone, but I believe I will be making another skin for winter, which will be a good deal lighter. c: That will be in the makings for the next week or so, so I implore you all to hang with me.<3

Alright. Seeing as I use Chrome on an entirely shitty laptop, I'm going to say something. I can honestly see everything perfectly fine. The font size and colour is readable. Therefore, for those of you who CANNOT read it, or find it difficult, you are either a) using a browser that is not compatible, or b) you're computer's settings are low and your computer is too dark.
As for the skin stretching, there is none of that on my laptop. It is the worst thing you could get, and it still produces a very good image of the site. There is absolutely no scrolling from left to right in order to see the entire forum. Again, you people with those issues need to check what browser you're using to view this site. It's probably not up to date, or its the wrong one. Use Google Chrome, it works wonders for everyone and has a ton more things to customize it than IE or Firefox.
If you guys do change the settings on your laptop/computers and switch to Chrome where you can actually see the skin properly, HIGHLIGHT THE WORDS. It always works for me for skins that you can't read the words properly. I personally think this is one of the best skins I've seen yet, and I adore the dark, warm colours it brings.
I'm sorry if I'm coming across as rude, and I am a guest, but mannn. Seeing the complaints(even if they are with good intent and with kind words said, I thank you people, most times when people complain they're bitchy and snobby and ugh. It's terrible.) it just makes me want to pull my hair out. No matter where we go guys, there are going to be viewing issues. People's settings are different than everyone else's. When skins are light, people say they're too light and it's blinding. In those cases, I say turn down your brightness. Problem solved. Too dark? Turn the brightness up.
Or highlight if that doesn't work. Phew, rant over. I love you all guys, you seem to be extremely good people and I salute you. Amen.

Random guest here gonna throw in my two cents. I've always liked darker skins and I really do like this one that you've put together. I can see everything just fine and I think the orangy-brown text really compliments the board color. However, I think to satisfy more people you should lighten the board color by just a smidgen, I found that even the slightest color lighter really makes it easier to read for people who have bad eyesight, bad laptops or monitors and/or lighting. I've also found that websites that aren't compatible with 99% of browsers tend to be less popular and can only welcome certain people with the right browsers which can really slow your activity down. (Trust me, I've learned this the difficult way) So if you're using a whole wacko of css and codes that aren't compatible with let's say... IE (who likes IE anyway?) then you're limiting your site to people who don't use that browser, and you'd be surprised by the amount of people who do.
And one lasto-thingo, the reason why some people have to scroll is because their laptops or monitors have a smaller resolution size than the laptop you made the site on. I have a whopping 17.3 inch dell inspiron and if I made a site suiting to the screen size of my laptop people with smaller laptops are gonna have a heck of a time seeing the entire site (I made my site on a 15 inch) so it's pretty suitable for pretty much everyone.
And damn that run on sentence.
Anyway, as someone who has a site who's affiliating with you, thought I'd drop some tips. c: good luck!

Hi! Another Random Guest, here!
I've been reading this thread and I honestly have been feeling sorry for you, Grey. I really don't know what the other people in this thread are talking about. The site is perfectly readable to me, the font is fine. The site does not scroll to the side, and it doesn't look like it should unless someone has a computer with an extremely small resolution. And if that is the case, most sites will scroll to the side for them.
The side-bar is perfectly readable to me, just like everything else.
Someone above mentioned switching to Chrome, but that is unnecessary. I am on Firefox and everything looks lovely. Now, if a person was on Internet Explorer, they could could possibly be having issues. Internet Explorer... Well, it sucks. So, I would suggest anyone using IE to switch to FF or Chrome.
Anyway, Grey, the site is gorgeous. I just want you to know that.

Seeing as to how we are still having issues understanding one another: I do believe the issue of the skin has been covered in its' entirety, and we have all agreed that even if some people are having difficulty viewing (myself included), it does not matter because the forum is still extremely beautiful.
As to cover grounds of which a few individuals seem to have issue with as far as my previous comment: I am using Firefox and have mentioned that I am forced to use a dinosaur computer. The board still stretches. It happens. -shrug- I am still a member of the forum despite it. Grey asked for comments and suggestions, which is what we members (and guests alike, I suppose) gave. I'm having issues understanding why we are met with unhappy people reading this.

Unhappy people sadden me. But I might be one of the people you might be suggesting. I apologize if I came off as aggressive or mean. I'm thinking that for the stretching issues, it's because you're computer's screen resolution is too small. oh man i seriously love those dinosaur computers. still have one kicking around somewhere, never had the heart to get rid of it. though, brightening up the background or the area behind the words might help people view a bit better. but idk. i see perfectly fine.
